Dear Colleagues,

We would like to invite you to participate in the Workshop entitled “Plant biomass for food and energy: future and reality” to be held in Baeza, Spain 9-11th October 2008. This workshop will cover a number of aspects of plant biomass production, including the description of basic pathways of plant growth and development and plant biotechnology application for food and biofuel. A number of internationally recognized experts will be presenting there most up to date work in thee areas. This workshop is particularly timely and relevant given the world economic situation due to the increasing prices of the petrol and cereals.

We are particularly keen to encourage young scientists to come this meeting and there are funds available to provide support to enable students to attend. We aim to provide the environment which will facilitate the exchange of ideas and views on how current plant biology research can impact on the supply of food and energy to cope with the growing demands of the world population.
